Use

Topical anti-infective; pharmaceutical aid; an antidote for ethylene glycol overdose; an antidote for methanol overdose

Usual Dosage

I.V.: Doses of 100-125 mg/kg/hour to maintain blood levels of 100 mg/dL are recommended after a loading dose of 0.6 g/kg; maximum dose: 400 mL of a 5% solution within 1 hour

Topical: Use as needed


Administration

Caution must be taken to avoid extravasation; administer only by slow I.V. infusion

Injection, absolute: 2 mL

Liquid, topical, denatured: 70% (473 mL)

Solution, inhalation: 20%, 40%
